PRP therapy uses a concentrated portion of platelets taken from your own blood to promote healing and rejuvenation. Platelets are rich in growth factors which can stimulate collagen production, hair growth and tissue repair. PRP is commonly used for skin rejuvenation and hair loss.

A small amount of your blood is drawn and spun in a centrifuge to separate the platelets from the red and white blood cells. The platelet-rich plasma is then injected into the target area (skin or scalp), where the growth factors help to stimulate healing, regeneration and hair growth.

PRP is frequently used for facial rejuvenation, improving skin texture, tone and fine lines. It is also used on the scalp to encourage hair growth in male and female pattern hair loss. Additionally, PRP can be used for some scars, stretch marks and other selected skin concerns.

A typical PRP appointment lasts about 60–90 minutes. This includes consultation, drawing and processing your blood and carrying out the injections to the treatment area.

Most patients tolerate PRP very well. You may feel some discomfort during the injections. A topical numbing cream is usually applied beforehand to make the treatment as comfortable as possible.

The number of sessions depends on your concerns and goals. For skin rejuvenation, 3–4 sessions spaced about 4–6 weeks apart are often recommended. For hair restoration a series of treatments followed by maintenance sessions every few months may be advised.

After a course of PRP, many people notice smoother, firmer skin and improved hair quality. Skin results can appear within a few weeks, while hair growth usually takes several months to become visible. Individual results vary.

Side effects are usually mild and temporary. You may experience redness, swelling, bruising or tenderness at injection sites. These usually settle within a few days. Serious complications are rare because PRP uses your own blood.

The cost depends on the area treated and number of sessions required. During your consultation we will discuss a tailored treatment plan and provide a clear cost estimate before you proceed.

After treatment you should avoid touching or rubbing the area for the first 24 hours and follow the skincare advice provided by your clinician. Direct sun exposure, hot baths and intense exercise are usually avoided for a short period. For facial PRP, we may ask you to delay makeup for 24 hours; for hair PRP you may be asked to avoid washing the hair for the first day.
